about

As a textil artist I consider myself an illustrator creating pictures with needle and thread or with a loom. A motif determines the choice of material, or the material leads me to a motif. I am looking for fabrics that tell a story, such as worn-out garments or cloth from a specific place. An untold story that comes to life and becomes visible through the process of working with it.

In my environment, I am interested in the missing, the disappeared, the replaceable and the unnecessary.

Since sewing was the first thing I learned after school when I studied fashion design, I have always fixed and solved problems using the „seam method“. Learning and applying handicrafts is an essential part of my work and also a theme in the literal sense. The production of a work ‘by hand’ is a reason for working with textiles, as a visible expression of awareness through my hands.

I like the relief-like surface of textile collages. Seams look like lines in a drawing and at the same time have a depth and liveliness created by the surface curvature when seams hold soft materials together. In tapestries I like the visible structure of raised and lowered threads, especially when used in different thicknesses.
